What vision those 1889ers must have had - coming to that promised land of Oklahoma!
Worshiping God around the center of town that April day, with that same vision they
looked forward to a great future - one that led to mission, both global and local, to Christian
education of their children and of their children’s children, to Christian community…….
Not long after that first day when they gathered around the water well, they began meeting
over the smithy’s shop. Through the years, buildings were built to meet the needs of
the growing congregation at several locations. In the mid-1950s, the center of our congregation
was near the intersection of Northwest Twenty-third Street and Western Avenue.
And so the cathedral-type structure where we worship today was built - again the
realization of the vision of this community.
Now in the third century of our existence, we continue to look forward to the great commission
which is our legacy.
